Constellations on the Sphere with Efficient Encoding-Decoding for Noncoherent Communications

چکیده

In this paper, we propose a new structured Grassmannian constellation for noncoherent communications over single-input multiple-output (SIMO) Rayleigh block-fading channels. The constellation, which call Grass-Lattice, is based on measure preserving mapping from the unit hypercube to of lines. structure allows on-the-fly symbol generation, low-complexity decoding, and simple bit-to-symbol Gray-like coding. Simulation results show that Grass-Lattice has bit error rate performance close numerically optimized unstructured more power efficient than other constellations proposed in literature coherent pilot-based scheme.

Signal Constellations for Noncoherent Space-Time Communications

We examine the problem of designing signal constellations for the multiple transmitmultiple receive antenna Rayleigh fading communication channel. By employing the asymptotic union bound on the probability of error, we find a new formulation of the problem of signal design for the noncoherent fading channel. Since unitary signals are optimal (in the limit of large signal to noise ratios), the d...

Massive MIMO for Ultra-reliable Communications with Constellations for Dual Coherent-noncoherent Detection

The stringent requirements of ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) require rethinking of the physical layer transmission techniques. Massive antenna arrays are seen as an enabler of the emerging 5th generation systems, due to increases in spectral efficiency and degrees of freedom for transmissions, which can greatly improve reliability under demanding latency requirements. Massive...

Optimizing Constellations for Noncoherent Optical Communication Systems

We optimize modulation formats for the additive white Gaussian noise channel with a nonnegative input constraint, also known as the intensity-modulated direct-detection channel, with and without confining them to a lattice structure. Our optimization criteria are the average electrical, average optical, and peak power. The nonnegativity input signal constraint is translated into a conical const...

STORM: Optimal Constellations for Noncoherent MIMO Communications at Low SNR under PAPR Constraints

Reliable communication over the discrete input and continuous output noncoherent MIMO Rayleigh fading channel is considered when the SNR per degree of freedom is low. The input constellations are required to satisfy peak and average power constraints. When the peak-to-average power is constrained and in the low SNR regime, the mutual information upto second order in SNR is maximized jointly ove...

An Efficient Quasi-Maximum Likelihood Decoding for Finite Constellations

In Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) systems, maximum-likelihood (ML) decoding is equivalent to finding the closest lattice point in an N -dimensional complex space. In general, this algorithm is known to be NP hard. In this paper, we propose a quasi-maximum likelihood algorithm based on Semi-Definite Programming (SDP). We introduce several SDP relaxation models for MIMO systems, with increasing ...
